Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) TreatmentIntense Pulsed Light (IPL), often referred to as a photofacial, is a versatile, non-invasive light-based treatment that targets and gently improves a range of common skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation, rosacea, broken capillaries, and facial redness.
Broad-spectrum light is delivered in precise pulses targeting melanin and hemoglobin, breaking down unwanted pigment and vascular lesions while stimulating collagen production for smoother texture and brighter tone. At Refine You, IPL treatments focus on progressive rejuvenation and treatment backed by decades as the “gold standard” treatment for pigment related skin changes including Rosacea. IPL is also well established for its ability to help maintain the integrity of the deeper layers of your skin.
Dr. Mondorf tailors each session to your unique skin concerns, commonly treating the face, neck, chest, and hands for comprehensive photoaging correction. The procedure is well tolerated and efficient, typically lasting 20-45 minutes, with a cooling gel applied and protective eyewear provided. Most patients describe a quick snapping or warming sensation, followed by little to no downtime—many resume daily activities immediately, though temporary redness or a sunburn-like feeling may occur, it resolves quickly. A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is often recommended for cumulative improvement, with results building gradually and lasting with proper sun protection and maintenance.
IPL is safe and effective when performed by experienced professionals like Dr. Mondorf, with common temporary side effects limited to mild redness, swelling, or darkening of spots (which flake off naturally). Rare risks such as pigmentation changes are minimized through careful assessment and customization, especially for varied skin tones. At Refine You, with the emphasis on listening to you and assessing your concerns, we can create a plan for a refreshed, vibrant complexion that looks authentically like you, just revitalized and glowing.
